Shir is delightfully talented, expressive and very well-trained! It was lovely to view her videos! …As my father ended up in Assisted Living - as did my father-in-law - and currently, my mother-in-law is in Independent Living, it is heart-warming to witness how revitalizing Shir's audiences find her performances. It is truly Music Therapy and a wonderful gift. It is so sweet to see her engagement with them, especially.

Thirteen-year-old Shir recently entertained at one of The Pavilion's newest sponsors. Providence Living at Maitland welcomed Shir with such delight. She had a repertoire of five Broadway tunes, each that were familiar to the residents. What a delight she was with pure grace, poise, and personality. Her mother, Lora, described her perfectly, "She's an old soul. She gets great nachas and meaning in seeing seniors enjoying. She wishes she could adopt them and hug them!"

11-year-old Pavilion volunteer brings joy
to seniors

How often do you hear 11-year-old children today state that one of their goals in life is to bring joy to residents of senior living facilities? Well, let me introduce you to Shir, who recently entertained the residents at Allegro in Winter Park with a medley of love songs to help celebrate Valentine's Day and as she has said many times, "bring a smile to everyone's face."

Shir is the daughter of Lora and Erik and she has been passionate about the performing arts since the age of 2. She takes lessons in ballet, tap, jazz, piano and singing. Shir has a long list of roles she has played: Iago in Aladdin Jr., Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka Kids, Small Alice in Alice in Wonderland Jr., Jane Banks in Mary Poppins Jr., Annie in Annie Kids, and others.
​
Shir has always held a special place in her heart for seniors. She was inspired to perform for senior living centers when she used to perform for her grandfather, "Pa" Kenneth S., and it would give him and other bed-ridden residents happiness. Shir is dedicated to creating uplifting performances that seniors can appreciate and plans to continue making the rounds to area residences to spread her joy of brightening up the day for others.
